What's next for Prasanna?

Prasanna is smiling bright these days. Busy with filmy and endorsement commitments, the actor is leading a happy married life with Sneha, whom he says is showing extreme care and affection on him.

Meanwhile, the actor has signed a new project, which is to be directed by Rajan Madhav. Remember Rajan Madhav made an impressive debut with 'Muran', which had Prasanna playing a negative role.

This time, the 'Anjathey' actor is playing the lead role and Rajan Madhav is done with the script. Shooting is expected to get a kick start very soon.

Writing about the project on his microblogging page, Prasanna stated: "Me and a gang of super talented actors will be the cast. Will reveal names after official confirmations."

Tollywood beckons Santhanam

There can be no two opinions that Santhanam is today the numero uno comedian of Tamil cinema. Impressed with his performance and timing sense, producers from the neighboring states have been vying to book him in their films.

While Mollywood movie makers have been asking the dates of Santhanam for a long time, Tollywood producers too have joined the list now.

This is because many films these days are being made as Tamil-Telugu bilinguals. Even if they are no bilinguals, Telugu films are dubbed and released in Tamil and vice versa.

But it seems Santhanam is in no hurry. It is said that he is waiting for the release of the Telugu dubbed version of 'Oru Kal Oru Kannadi', which will be released in Andhra Pradesh in a grand manner soon.

Only after seeing its result, Santhanam is expected to sign straight Telugu projects.

Karthi's remuneration is Rs 14 cr?

The rise of Karthi Sivakumar in Tamil cinema is no inferior to any fairy tale. Just six-film old, the actor is now in the A-list of actors in Kollywood, which has the names of Superstar Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith, Vijay, Suriya and Vikram.

If sources are to be believed, a leading producer recently signed Karthi for Rs 14 crore, a remuneration which is a dream for any aspiring star. This clearly shows the demand for the actor in the market.

While 'Paruthiveeran' took him to the rural masses besides making the city audience notice him, his films, 'Aayirathil Oruvan', 'Paiyaa', 'Naan Mahan Alla' and 'Siruthai', made Karthi a household name in Tamil Nadu.

The opening of 'Saguni' has made him a bankable actor, on whom distributors and producers can bet big. The forthcoming films of Karthi are 'Alex Pandiyan', 'Biriyani' and 'All In All Azhagu Raja'.

'Thupaki' title issue not resolved!

The 'Thupaki' title has still not resolved! The hearing has been pushed from July 16 to July 19. A teaser will be unveiled only once the title has been finalized.
Remember the makers of 'Kallathupaki' filed a case against Thupaki as their similar titles might mislead the audience. The court has banned the makers from using the name Thupaki, as of now. A judgment will be made only on July 19.

Meanwhile there's an interesting development in the music front. It is said that Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Andrea have crooned a number in this film that has music composed by Harris Jayaraj. Madhan Karky has penned the lyrics for this peppy song.

Starring Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal the film is helmed by AR Murugadoss and is a suave cum mass action entertainer.

Kamal ropes in a 7 year old girl for his next

Kamal Haasan has roped in a seven-year-old American girl, to play a crucial role in his maiden Hollywood project, which is to be produced in association with veteran Barrie Osborne.

It is said the girl will be seen with Kamal throughout the movie and she forms a pivotal part of the script. "She looks cute and acts well. Hence Kamal is impressed a lot," say sources.

Recently, Kamal screened his new film 'Viswaroopam' to Osborne of the 'Lord of the Rings' fame, and the two are now planning to collaborate on a project. "Kamal's concept inspired me and the discussions we've had convinced me that it would be something worthy for us to pursue," Osborne said.

The Hollywood producer said he met Haasan several times in the past, and decided to work together on a film after seeing his work on Vishwaroop.

"I am impressed by what he has accomplished on Vishwaroop. After that, we started talking on ideas and the possibility of working together. His knowledge of history, literature, and films is encyclopedic. Kamal presented an idea to me that was so compelling that I couldn't resist working with him," he said.

No item song in 'Mugamoodi'!

Mysskin's item numbers are as popular as his films and the success of 'Vaala Meenukum...', 'Kathazha Kannala...' and 'Kannitheevu Ponna...' stand testimony to this.
However, there won't be an item number in his next, Jiiva's biggie 'Mugamoodi' since the script doesn't demand an item number and the director doesn't want to attach one for the sake of it.
There's a mass number in a TASMAC bar featuring Jiiva and his pals, which has been crooned by Mysskin himself! This will beJiiva's introductory song in the film. Audio is composed by K and will be unveiled by Ilayathalapathy Vijay on July 20.
Featuring Jiiva, Narein and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles, 'Mugamoodi' is a superhero flick by UTV Motion Pictures. The film is all about the superhero within oneself and the makers have made sure there's no stone unturned in presenting this superhero film in a convincing manner for Tamil film patrons.
Meanwhile it is said that RB Choudary will release the film in Telugu simultaneously. The Telugu title will be announced in the first week of August.

Kajal Aggarwal - Reason for 'Thupaki' & 'Maatraan' delay?

It is now widely buzzed that the release of two big Tamil films, 'Thupaki' and 'Maatraan' have been delayed due to lack of Kajal's dates for the films. Kajal who is doing these two Tamil films, two other Telugu projects and a Hindi film, simultaneously, has her dates all messed up thanks to few delays in shoot that occurred in between.

Both the teams, Maatraan and Thupaki, are waiting for the actress' dates to shoot the pending songs.

Two songs featuring her and Vijay are pending to be canned which will be shot in August. Whereas a romantic number on her and Suriya for 'Maatraan' will be shot in a Chennai studio in August as well.

While 'Thupaki' is slated for a Diwali release, 'Maatraan' is touted to grace big screens sometime in September. Remember both the biggies were initially slated for an August 15 release.

Suriya's 'Singam 2' kick started

Hari has started shooting for his next film 'Singam 2'. A prequel to 'Singam', the second part will have Suriya, Anushka Shetty and Hansika Motwani in lead roles.
Talking to journalists, the director said, "Singam 2 will be more racy and pacy when compared to the first part. Unlike Singam, the movie will be shot in foreign locales, especially in South Africa."

Stating that plans are on to rope in an African actor to play the baddie, Hari said the shooting would be completed at the earliest. "Manorama will make her comeback with this film," he informed.

Happy to join hands with Suriya again, Hari said, "This is for the fourth time we are coming together (after 'Aaru', 'Velu' and 'Singam'). He is ready to do whatever demanded by the director."

Lakshmi happy with govt officials

Actress Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, who has turned into a filmmaker with 'Aarohanam', has an interesting experience to share with. It's about her encounters with government officials, to get tax exemption to her maiden directorial venture.

"Already swelling with praises, Aarohanam was viewed in the same light by the censor board and the tax exemption committee, which sincerely felt that such movies were the need of the society. Humbled and contended, I sat back and awaited the tax exemption certificate," she said in a letter to the media.

The 'Yudhdham Sei' fame actress said: "Three weeks later, I still had heard no word fro the authorities, I began to fret. Rumors and warnings that greasing the hands of officials is mandatory for a certificate started finding their way into my worries. With my already frugal budget, I could hardly even afford to think of shedding another pie for no reason at all! I decided to handle matters in my own way. I contacted a few friends in the anti corruption cells and was flooded with advise as to what should be my strategy in handling corrupt officials".

"Seeing no reason in playing the blame game, I decided to test the waters myself. So I woke up one morning and walked straight to Ezhilagam, the commercial taxes department!"

"However, to my utter surprise I received a warm welcome and was informed that the Aarohanam tax exemption file stayed in the tax dept for no longer than 30 minutes, after which it was transferred to the secretariat for further processing. Phew! Nothing to fret now, thought my mind! But then the taunting returned, "It's the secretariat that is corrupt", "it wouldn't pass from there for months until you show up with a suitcase", "no one knows what happens inside" and so on and so forth!"

She further said: "In no mood to give up, I marched to the secretariat. A peon shows me to the deputy secretary's room. He seems like a nice man. I explain to him my purpose of visit and he seems to look pretty flustered. I recall the accounts I heard of people paying Rs X amount for Y movie, and he is totally taken aback! He denies any of the accusations and directs me to the secretary's room. A friendly looking middle aged woman, the secretary's assistant greets me and asks me to fill in my credentials to communicate to the secretary on a chit! Tired, frustrated, hungry and almost at my wits end, "Lakshmy Ramakrishnan, Actor, Filmmaker and Homemaker", I scribble on a chit and ask her to pass it on. Needless to say, I get a call in two minutes."

"I walk into this room, to find a fine looking gentleman, sitting calmly on his seat. He seems to know his manners and his etiquette turns out scot free. I feel comfortable communing with him, and eventually recount all the happenings. At the end of my story, he takes a quick moment sinking in the situation, and then, without even a trace of guilt on his face, he denies all charges against his department."

"He has all the information ready for me, right from when the file came in, what were the procedures performed and what is its current status. He re-affirms that the file is currently with the minister and that he will personally remind him about the same. He assures me that Aarohanam has been highly recommended for tax exemption as it satisfies all the required qualities including a clean 'U' certificate and a Tamil title."

"He further goes on to say that his department is corruption free and he makes sure that every soul within his department has their hands clean. I sit there for a while gaping at him, trying to sink in the irony of the situation. I heard a government official speak confidently about his ways. I was dumbfounded. All those false rumors fall apart in a jiffy. I immediately take the chance and tell him what an eye-opener it was to have met him and leave without taking much of his time."

"Walking out of a government office after a pleasant encounter with a government official, it dawns on me that things are not as dark as they are made out to be! It is time we got into the so called 'rut' and discover for ourselves, for who knows, it may be a completely different picture altogether," Lakshmi concluded.

Yuvan thrilled about Gautham's 'NEP'

Yuvan Shankar Raja is all thrilled about a song crooned by him in Gautham Vasudev Menon's upcoming flick 'Neethanae En Ponvasantham', which was composed by maestro Ilayaraja.
"I was speechless when I heard the final version. It's pure music that's what I call it. Thanks to Gautam for making me sing the song," says Yuvan.

He adds: "Been tripping on Saindhu Saindhu like mad really blessed to be a part of that song... unimaginable music... dads's great... The musician has given more than one reason to stay tuned for the films music."

Starring Jiiva and Samantha in lead roles, 'Neethanae En Ponvasantham' is nearing completion and is expected to see the light of the day soon. It is simultaneously being made in Telugu and Hindi too.

Kamal inspires Quentin Tarantino

That Kamal Haasan has inspired many actors and filmmakers in Kollywood is an open secret. And now, top Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino admitted that he was inspired by the Ulaganayagan.
In an interaction with ace Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap, Tarantino said he had seen Kamal's 'Aalavandhan' and was inspired to use comics for his 'Kill Bill' series for the most gruesome scenes.

Kamal, while accepting Tarantino's compliment, said in an interview: "When I did the animation action sequence 12 years ago it was seen as self-indulgent and odd by a lot of people. Now that it has been endorsed by a filmmaker of such brilliance, critics will be kinder to some of the things I attempt in my films."

It was way back in 2001 Kamal Haasan did an 'Aalavandhan' ('Abhay' in Hindi) where he played a dangerous psychopath. In this movie, Kamal used graphic sequences to portray the violence.
