Snowfall plays games on 'Billa 2' sets

It wasn't known to many that two days of shoot of 'Billa 2' had to be re-shot at the prestigious Likani Palace to maintain the continuity of an outdoor schedule, thanks to the weather issues."It was one hell of an experience for the cast and crew of Billa 2 to shoot in sub zero temperatures. It was fun and though it was difficult to shoot with the snow, the snow added to the look of the film and the scenes are going to look fabulous on big screen. There's no way we could have brought this effect in artificial means", says a crew member.

'Billa 2' is the first movie to be shot at the Likani Palace that's President of Georgia's summer retreat. The film is touted to grace worldwide screens on June 15.
Directed by Chakri Toleti the film is a prequel to 2007 blockbuster 'Billa' and will unravel the events that led to an Eelam refugee becoming a dreaded don.

Aishwarya Dhanush: Pride of Tamil Nadu

That '3', Aishwarya Dhanush's debut venture as director, was selected for screening at the New York Indian Film Festival and the Superstar's elder daughter went to the US to take part in it is no more news.

The latest is that Aishwarya was honored with the Pride of Tamil Nadu award by the New York Tamil Sangham at a glittering event at Queens Museum of Art in the Big Apple.

Office-bearers of the Tamil Sangham said they were happy to present the award to Aishwarya since she deserved it. She is the daughter of a leading personality and wife of an award winning actor. But she independently proved herself.

'3', which had Dhanush and Shruti Haasan in lead roles, is a romantic psychological thriller. The film made waves even before its release thanks to 'Why this kolaveri di...' song, composed by first-timer Anirudh.

Dhanush's 'Edhir Neechal' with Siva Karthikeyan & Priya Anand

Dhanush is no more just an actor, or a singer for that matter. The National Award winner is taking the avatar of a producer, with a film titled 'Edhir Neechal'. Popular television star Siva Karthikeyan (of 'Marina' fame) and Priya Anand will be the lead actors.
Senthil, a former assistant of Vetrimaaran, is making his debut as a director with 'Edhir Neechal', a title which has apparently been inspired from a Nagesh starrer film of the yesteryear, directed by K Balachander.

Touted as a rom-com, the movie is expected to have music by Anirudh, who made a stunning debut with '3' recently. Shooting is expected to start soon, after an official announcement comes from Dhanush.

"The film will be completed in one go and it will gear up for release by the third quarter of the year. Both Siva Karthikeyan and Priya Anand (of '180' and 'Vamanan' fame) are thrilled about the film," sources say.

'Saguni' audio bytes

As 'Saguni's audio launch date is nearing (June 2), IndiaGlitz exclusively brings to you some interesting audio bytes from the film that has music by GV Prakash. It is said that GV Prakash who has a record number of hits from his compositions, has used a Hollywood style of composing for the background score of the film.

'Kandha Karavadai...' is said to be Karthi's introductory song in the film which will be quite comical. What's interesting is that the lyrics have been penned by debutant Paramu, who is an ardent fan of Karthi!

'Manasellam Mazhaiye...' crooned by Sonu Nigam and Saindhavi is a typical GV number and will be a melody.

'Saguni' sees the hit pair of Karthi and Santhanam as Kamalakannan and Apparao Rajini, shortly as Kamal and Rajini. Pranitha plays the lead lady whilst the film has a number of veterans in important roles.

Meanwhile industry insiders have it that GV Prakash will join Selvaraghavan for a film post 'Irandam Ulagam'.

Mani Ratnam makes an interesting addition

mani-ratnam-samantha-29-05-12
A Mani Ratnam film can be counted on to create a buzz and Kadal with Gautham and Samantha in leading roles is doing just that. Every thing about the film makes news. Aravind Swamy will be returning to the silver screen because of his high regard for his mentor. And as always AR Rahman insisted on doing the music despite his busy schedule.

Now the latest addition to the cast is Devi who played Jiiva's sister in Nanban. She is a famous figure in the Tamil theatre circuit and Mani, who has attended some of her workshops felt she was perfect to essay the role of Gautham's mother. Jeyamohan has penned the script, Rajiv Menon is the cinematographer and Sreekar Prasad is the editor. We hear he is entirely satisfied with his cast and crew and the film is shaping up to be something special.

Hari keen on retaining original cast for 'Singam 2'

Its no longer news that Suriya - Anushka Shetty and Hansika Motwani will be coming together for'Singam 2', a sequel to the 2010 super hit, 'Singam'. However it looks like Hari is hell bent in retaining the original cast from the film for the sequel.

The director who knows commercial cinema like the back of his hand has reportedly convinced 'Aachi' Manorama to be a part of the sequel as well. The ace actress was ill and underwent treatment recently, for various reasons. This film will now mark her comeback on big screen as she was last seen in 'Ponnar Shankar'.

The sequel will go on floors once Suriya wraps 'Maatraan' with KV Anand, the film is nearing its completion with just a couple of songs pending to be canned.

'Singam 2' will boast off the same cast and crew but will see a few additions like Hansika Motwani and Santhanam. Buzz is that Hansika will play a school tot in this film.

Prakash Raj to play hero?

Thambi Ramaiah, before making his mark as an actor and winning a National Award (for 'Mynaa'), was known in the industry as a director. The filmmaker in him is still active and is set to start his fresh directorial venture soon.

According to sources, the film titled 'Irandu Paayum Puliyum Oru Pachai Kiliyum' will have Prakash Raj and 'Mirchi' Siva playing the lead roles. Besides, Thambi Ramaiah too will do a crucial character, it is said.
"It is a comedy caper and a new actress will be launched as the heroine. Talks are on the final stages and an official announcement will be made soon," say sources close to the development.
Prakash Raj, who too is an award winning actor, was on a break recently, as he had to take care of his ailing mother. The actor-producer-director walked out of a Kannada project to be with his mother, who was hospitalized.

Radha Mohan ready with 'Gouravam'

Director Radha Mohan is a name to relate with meaningful entertainers. After 'Payanam' last year, the filmmaker is now gearing up for another bilingual, titled 'Gouravam'.

The Tamil-Telugu film will mark the debut of Sirish as an actor. Sirish is the younger brother of top Tollywood star Allu Arjun, cousin of another leading actor Ram Charan Teja and son of ace producer Allu Aravind. And obviously, veterans Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan are his uncles.

The film will be produced by Prakash Raj on behalf of Duet Movies banner. Cast opposite Sirish as the female lead is Yami Gautham, who was part of many Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam films, including the recently released 'Vicky Donor'.

Prakash Raj and Nasser will play key roles in this movie, whose shoot will start in Mysore on June 18. S S Thaman will score the music, while dialogues are by Viji and art direction by Kathir. Cinematography is by Preetha.

It was also dubbed in Telugu as Premale Paditho, which was also released on May 4 in Andhra Pradesh. Both the versions have done wonders at the Box Office.

Ravikumar to make a mega budget film with Kamal?

Actor Kamal Haasan and director K.S. Ravikumar have had a highly successful association which has spanned for close to two decades now.  The duo has worked together in films like Avvai Shanmugi, Thenali, Panchathanthiram, Dasavathaaram and Manmathan Ambu.  Except for Manmathan Ambu which released last December, all other films have been super-duper hits at the box-office.

Actor Kamal Haasan and director K.S. Ravikumar
Ravikumar was to make Rana starring superstar Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone in the lead.  As Rajini fell ill and had to be hospitalized at Chennai and Singapore, the film’s shoot got postponed.  Last month, it was officially announced that the film’s shooting would be commencing only from August, 2012.  In the meantime, Ravikumar is presently assisting Soundarya by supervising her direction of Rajini’s upcoming film Kochadaiyan.

Sources at Ravikumar’s office said that Ravikumar and Kamal Haasan might come together for the sixth time to make another film.  It is said that the film might be launched in the second half of 2012.  Ravikumar is penning the story, screenplay and dialogues for Rajini’s Kochadaiyan besides assisting Soundarya.  The animation film’s work is said to have been completed which has given Ravikumar the time to sit down and pen a script for Kamal.

Kamal Haasan reportedly liked the one-liner narrated to him by Ravikumar.  When it becomes a reality, the film would be a mega-budget affair, it is said.  The script is likely to deal with a major film against corruption at all levels.  As he is likely to do this film, Kamal is said to have informed Shankar not to consider making the sequel to his earlier hit Indhiyan which was also a film against corruption.

The action-thriller would deal with the way major business houses and corporate firms do everything possible at their disposal to evade all sorts of taxes.  Keep watching this space for further updates!
