You would have read in these columns a couple of days ago that Siva Karthikeyan and Priya Anand would work together for a film to be produced by Dhanush, titled 'Edhir Neechal'. Now it is emerging that Priya was handpicked for the role by Dhanush.
If sources are to be believed, the National Award winning actor was impressed with Priya's performance in '180' and 'Vamanan'. Hence he asked director Senthil (a former associate to Vetrimaaran) to have the actress on board.On learning that it was Dhanush who recommended her for the role, Priya, it is learnt, called on the actor who was starting for a foreign country, and expressed her gratitude.
Meanwhile, talking about the film, Dhanush says, "Only the title was inspired by a yesteryear movie directed by K Balachander with Nagesh in the lead. The story is totally different. Also, I didn't recommend Priya for the role. I just suggested her name. That's it."
